Plates: print several tasks on one bed
Combine queued tasks of the same filament into one plate, let the slicer lay them out, and print it bed by bed if it does not fit at once.
When two or more queued tasks use the same colour, the Print Queue offers a banner like "3 queued tasks are all PLA Black — 5 units could share one plate." Press Build the plate, or Dismiss to hide it for this session.
What Build the plate does
- It takes every matching task whose part has a file and gives the plate a number, PL-001, PL-002 and so on.
- The slicer copies each file as many times as the task asks, lays them out and orients them, for the model of the first task's printer.
- The plate card shows "laying out and slicing…" until it is done, then the parts, time and grams.
If the slicer's own layout needs more than one bed for loose meshes (STL and similar), PrintSol tries its own tighter packing and keeps it when it needs fewer beds.
Printing a plate
Pick a printer on the plate card and press Go. When the parts still need more than one bed, the card shows "· N beds" with a button per bed (bed 1, bed 2…). After each bed, clear the printer and start the next one. The tasks move to Finished after the last bed.
Taking a plate apart
The trash icon, Take the plate apart, sends its tasks back to the queue. It is refused while the plate is printing.
Copies of one part
To print several copies of a single file on one bed, you do not need a plate: set Copies in the file's Slice panel in File Manager, or set "Per plate" on the part so the queue knows how many fit.
