How the Print Queue works
Where tasks come from, what the five columns mean, and how a print moves from Queued to Pack.
Everything PrintSol prints is a task: one part in a quantity, for an order, a project, stock or a file you queued. The Print Queue shows every open task as a card.
Where tasks come from
- Shop orders: one task per part of each product, when the order arrives (or when you press Queue for printing on the order).
- Projects: Send to queue on the Projects page.
- File Manager: the "Put in the queue" card on a file.
- Stock: Print to target on a product, or Print on the dashboard's stock card.
A task with more pieces than fit on one bed is split into one task per bed. If a print finishes with pieces still missing, the rest goes back in the queue as a new task.
The columns
- Queued: waiting to print. Cancelled tasks also stay here until you remove them.
- Plated: tasks that have been put on a shared plate.
- Printing: on a printer. A failed task also shows here, with a red border.
- Finished: the printer reports it done. Check the print, clear the bed, press Confirm & cleaned.
- Pack: checked and waiting to be packed. Press Packed and it leaves the board.
Hover over a column title, or open "What the columns mean" at the top, for the same explanations in the app.
Reading a card
- Green left border: ready, with a sliced file and filament chosen.
- Orange border: something is still missing, for example no slice yet.
- Red border: late, blocked or failed. The reason is on the card.
Click a card for the task popup: the print, the order it belongs to, the printer and its loaded filament, the history, a Work label link, and a line starting "Auto-print:" that explains why Auto-print has or has not started it.
How cards move
A task moves to Printing when the printer confirms the start, and to Finished when the printer reports the print complete. Moving from Finished to Pack, and off the board, is your decision. Use the search box (order, product, file, printer or customer) to find a card quickly.
